SATURDAY JUNE 9TH - WINGS & WHEELS SHOW

June 08, 2007
Sharp County Regional Airport was a hub of activity with the Wings-n-Wheels show slated for Saturday.

Activities kicked off at 9 a.m. with a bang! Displays on site included antique aircraft, experimental aircraft, WWII Warbirds and military aircraft. A variety of classic cars were also on display. Air Evac was on hand with one of the company’s helicopters. Spring River RC Club had model airplanes on site. The Shiners clowns were present at the festivities along with several food vendors. Tents with tables and chairs gave guests an opportunity to temporarily escape the sunshine.

The days activities included a show by the Sons of Legends comedy act. The two Missouri pilots performed their show on the ground and in the air using two aircrafts – a Twin Beech 18 and a J3 Cub - and Clint Allen also showcased his talents during an acrobatic show.

Arkansas Paracenter provided tandem parachute rides, and Pilots for Christ offered airplane rides for donations.

The event showcased all of the improvements made at the airport in the last few years, including the expansion of the runway, the purchase of additional property, construction of additional hangars and the construction of a park and picnic area.

All of the improvements mean better access and accessibility for residents and businesses. Of the 10 hangars being constructed, almost all have been spoken for.

The airport is supported by local governments including the county and neighboring cities.
